Malcolm Heath

In 1993, Malcolm with his wife Rosalie moved to Matamata (NZ) where they completed a YWAM Crossroad’s DTS. After that they joined Crossroads as staff. In September 1997 they moved to Canada and worked with YWAM Associates for several years. During that time (2000-2001) Malcolm was very ill with complications to Pancreatitis. Through God answering the prayers of many around the world Malcolm made an amazing recovery. They returned to New Zealand in December 2001 and became part of the staff at Crystal Springs Matamata where Malcolm worked until his death. He died two weeks after learning that he had cancer. The suddenness of it was a great shock to us all.

Malcolm was a man of many talents, an electrician, a computer and electronic geek to name a few. He understood telephone and alarm systems like you wouldn’t believe. Malcolm had a great practical knowledge, which was greatly valued by all who knew him.

Although we miss Malcolm very much, we are thankful to God that He allowed us to have him for a further nine years from the time when he was so ill in Canada. Extra time to create those special memories. Finally we honour you Malcolm, your life has been a testimony of your faithfulness and generosity.

The last refit for the Next Wave was a success, but because of the great amount of things to do we planned an other period of refit.

The Refit period is a fun time with professionals and non professionals working on the ship to fix and maintain.We can use hands in engineering, carpeting, pluming, electric engineering and any other kind of help is very welcome. You can come alone or take a group from your church or work! Anyone is more than welcome to join!

We have scheduled the Caribbean Reach vessel to be taken out of the water in order to refinish the bottom. She will require some sanding and 2 primer coats of paint then two anti-fouling coats of paint to help keep the barnacles off. We are continuing to do other small projects like inside painting while we are here. We plan to leave here the end of October for the Dominican Republic. There is a 50th Anniversary celebration with Loren & Darleen Cunningham and the Caribbean Leadership conference. We will have a YWAM / Marine Reach Dedication of the vessel. We plan then to stay in the Northern Caribbean for the rest of the winter months.

There is so much happened the last couple of weeks on board the Next Wave, we thank God he is in control in every little thing.
The Captain got a big fever and didn’t recover at all and the fever stayed for 7 days.

The captain went to the hospital and after 3 days he recovered little by little. The fever was gone and his happiness was back!During writing this the captain is back on board and he is packing his bags to go to a hotel to fully recover.He is feeling better but needs allot of rest. He will stay for two days in the hotel and than when everything is good we leave to the next port. Thank you very much for all your prayers and compassion, it brought Lehman much support.

In the main time God is blessing us with many other things too, a old local captain came to move the ship and we have a good secured birth until Lehman is back. The festival of live has bin great and people are giving there lives to Jesus by hearing the testimony’s and the positive energy that the festival breaths out!
And next to that all we got a restaurant bringing us sandwiches and pizza (with fish) for breakfast every day! The Lord is taking good care of us.

The Sicily tour has been going really well, we are now in Sciacca in the southern west coast of Sicily. Since we’ve been here we’ve seen Gods hand at work at least 9 people became Christians after Sunday’s event, with people giving their lives to the Lord in local churches too. Currently we have an awesome team here from the South Pacific Islands of New Caledonia and Vanuatu. these guys bring so much freedom and life to Europe and are a huge blessing to the Next Wave. During our sail to Sciacca from Portopalo ( where we had many difficulties) our Captain developed a high fever and has been hospitalized here in Sciacca. Please join us as we continue to pray for his healing and restoration. We believe God is doing something amazing in our midst and the fruit shows this, hence the battles we are facing. Please also join us in prayer for our dinghy, which was stolen from the boat. The coast guard have recovered the rubber tube, but not the motor, which is the expensive part.

Estamos com necessidade urgente de um(a) enfermeiro(a) voluntária para servir na ATINI neste segundo semestre de 2010.
As nossas duas enfermeiras missionárias estão ausentes - uma saiu para fazer um curso de aperfeiçoamento e a outra teve que se ausentar por problemas de saúde. Devido à natureza do nosso trabalho, não podemos ficar sem a presença constante de um profissional de saúde em nosso centro. Atendemos crianças indígenas com problemas graves de saúde que precisam de acompanhamento constante (paralisia cerebral, anemia desiretropéica, distrofia muscular progressiva, etc...).

Estamos atendendo atualmente indígenas de 6 etnias diferentes na CASA DAS NAÇÕES (a chácara da ATINI em Brasília), e estamos estudando a possibilidade de receber mais algumas crianças com deficiência nos próximos meses, se conseguirmos a ajuda que precisamos. O(A) enfermeiro(a) voluntário(a) poderá residir na própria Casa das Nações junto com as famílias indígenas, ou poderá morar num apartamento no centro do Gama, que fica distante cerca de 20 minutos da chácara. Neste caso, a ATINI providenciará o transporte diário para a chácara.

O trabalho na ATINI exige sensibilidade cultural e muito amor, já que trabalhamos com famílias que enfrentam o trauma de ter que deixar suas comunidades de origem para salvar a vida de suas crianças. É uma oportunidade única para uma experiência transcultural enriquecedora, e ao mesmo tempo para o aperfeiçoamento profissional e pessoal.

Cynthia Jean Albrecht attended the January YWAM School of Evangelism in 1980 in Lausanne, Switzerland. After the lecture phase she traveled with the school to Greece and then on to Thailand to work in the refugee camps. She worked in a clothing distribution project to begin with and then ran the Soap Factory in Khao-I-Dang Camp located along the Thai/Cambodia border. She also spent several months in the south of Thailand in Songkla working in a camp for Vietnamese Boat People teaching English. Cindy returned to the USA with the desire to finish her education. She was very determined to earn her degree so that she could return to Thailand with some tools and work with us. It took her longer than most as she would work – saving her money and then study a term or two and continued this even when cancer was diagnosed. She continued between treatments, employment and working on her degree in Public Health…until 15 June 2000…the Lord called her to Himself. Cindy, thank you for your example of perseverance – when the going was really tough – we know that the angels in heaven rejoiced at your arrival.

Marjorie (Marj) Hansen

November 28th 1919 to December 9th 1991

Marj at the age of 66 years was a student on the first Cossroads DTS in Wellington (NZ) in 1986. Marj went on outreach to the South Pacific Islands. Following outreach Marj went to work with YWAM in Christchurch. She stayed at the base until it closed late in1988. Marj then went to Orama where she worked with YWAM Family Ministries until she became unwell in August 1991. Marj died in December following a short illness. Marj’s eldest daughter Rosalie Heath followed her into YWAM and is currently (2010) at Crystal Springs, Matamata (NZ).

Marj had a real love and compassion for young people and was especially able to help and minister to young women. Before going to YWAM, Marj worked at Landmark in Hamilton, a home for girls. Marj was a great encourager and greatly loved by all who knew her. Marj was mum to many and is greatly missed by her children and grandchildren.

Kick starting the Festival of Life in Sicily!

We are now a full vessel with a Canadian DTS from Quebec and Kings Kids England with us. We are anchored in Syracuse Harbour meanwhile we have been ferrying teams to shore for evangelism during the morning. In the evening crew and teams go ashore for evangelism with the local church. During the afternoon the Sicilians siesta so we are doing maintenance on the ship, things like cleaning windows, polishing brass, painting and doing engine checks.
During the last few days we have had some sail training from Syracuse to Augusta and oriented the teams to the ‘ship lifestyle’. The two teams both bring a unique presence to the Next Wave, the DTS having a wonderful worshipful vibe and Kings Kids have come armed with scripture and pirate costumes and loads of ways to tell people about Gods love.
We are excited to tell you about what the Lord does over the next few weeks here in Sicily as we kick start the festival of life.

We had a false start on May 2nd. We got 10 miles from our dock headed to the Bahamas and the transmission failed. We were towed back to our dock where we removed the transmission. We have since been blessed with a rebuilt transmission at 1/4 the cost. We were also blessed by friends and family to pick up the remaining costs. We have adjusted our leaving time to coincide with God’s time. So, we do not have a new date yet. Pray for wisdom and safety as we plan our trip south.

Basta um rápido e-mail para pedir suas orações. Desde 15 de maio de Rüegger Barbara, ex-Director KKI Sul da Ásia, foi na Clínica Neurológica do Hospital Universitário de Zurique. Ela foi diagnosticada com uma forma amena da Síndrome de Guillain-Barré e gostaria de receber suas orações. Após várias observações, exames e tratamentos de infusão, as pernas se tornaram um pouco mais forte. Atualmente, ela está aguardando um diagnóstico do médico-chefe, e se tudo correr bem, ela poderia voltar para casa quinta-feira.

Vamos ficar todos em orações para Bárbara.

Beste vrienden,

Ik ben altijd trots op het team hier in BRussel. Bij deze een recent verhaal van een genomen initiatief, waar ik erg blij van werd!

Terwijl alle vliegtuigen gestrand waren, wij allemaal onder een aswolk verkeerden en de media doordraaide, gebeurden er achter de schermen enkele geweldige dingen. Marina begon, in plaats van wachten en tobben over haar man die al liftend zijn op weg naar huis was, zich af te vragen wie er nog meer problemen had wat betreft de as.

Toen ze aankwam, ontdekte ze een kamp van 30 mensen die al dagen zaten te wachten op hun vlucht. Veel van hen kwamen uit Noord-Afrika, hadden weinig geld en dit was aan het opraken. De luchtvaartmaatschappij zorgde voor één maaltijd: het ontbijt. Het rode Kruis was ook aanwezig maar hun beleid stond hen niet toe om eten uit te delen. Marina, die de nood zag die ze kon vervullen, ging terug naar huis, kookte een heleboel eten en kwam terug met borden, bestek en eten voor de hele groep die zat te wachten.

Zij waren dolblij en verbaasd door haar vriendelijkheid. Terwijl ze van persoon naar persoon ging, leerde ze hen en hun verhalen kennen. Het Rode Kruis dribbelde achter haar aan om de borden af te wassen en haar op alle andere mogelijke manieren te helpen!

Veel van de gestranden waren moslim, alhoewel ze ook één of twee mensen van verder weg ontmoette. Marina vertelde over Jezus, de reden van haar liefdadigheid, en als resultaat kwamen allerlei interessante dingen naar boven. Ze ontmoette twee Iraniërs, één van hen had God gezocht van kinds af aan en vroeg zich af wat Gods reden was dat hij gestrand was op het
vliegveld. Na met Marina gepraat te hebben, nam hij een Engelse Bijbel van haar aan en was ze in staat om met hem te bidden en e-mail adressen uit te wisselen.

Aan het eind nam ze twee Tunesiese meisjes mee naar huis, zodat ze daar konden wachten op een vrienden die hen mee naar Lille in Frankrijk zou nemen, om daar hun reis verder te zetten. Na uren gepraat te hebben, was het tijd om te vertrekekn. Marina gaf hen twee Franse Bijbels cadeau, die ze aannamen met tranen in hun ogen. ‘We hebben ernaar verlangt om de Bijbel te lezen.”zei één van hen.

De volgende dag begonnen de vliegtuigen weer in de lucht te gaan. Willem bereikte zijn bestemming en de wereld werd weer zoals hij was. God had een geweldige manier voorzien om mensen te bereiken die Marina normaal gesproken nooit bereikt zou hebben. En dat alles door haar initiatief en het volgen van haar nieuwsgierigheid!

Je suis fier de notre équipe à Bruxelles ! Voici le témoignage récent d’une de leurs initiatives que j’ai entendue avec beaucoup de plaisir.

Alors que l’Europe était sous le nuage de cendres provenant du volcan islandais, que les avions étaient tous cloués au sol et que les médias s’agitaient frénétiquement, de très bonnes choses étaient tranquillement en train de se réaliser. Plutôt que de rester à attendre son mari qui devait faire du stop pour rentrer à la maison, Marina a commencé à se demander qui d’autre pourrait avoir aussi des difficultés à cause de ce nuage de cendres.

Beaucoup de voyageurs, c’est vrai, n’avaient pas les moyens ni l’audace de se lancer à l’aventure pour rentrer chez eux en traversant l’Europe. Marina se demanda qui pouvait bien être bloqué à l’aéroport de Bruxelles. Elle décida d’aller voir sur place ce qui se passait et si elle pouvait aider.

Quand elle arriva, elle découvrit un groupe de 30 personnes qui campaient là depuis des jours, attendant leur vol. Ils avaient très peu d’argent, beaucoup d’entre eux venaient d’Afrique du Nord et n’avaient plus rien. Leur compagnie aérienne ne leur avait offert qu’un repas : un petit déjeuner. La Croix Rouge était présente mais leur règlement leur interdisait de distribuer de la nourriture. Voyant qu’elle pourrait aider, Marina fila chez elle pour cuisiner en grande quantité. Elle revint à l’aéroport avec des assiettes, des couverts et assez à manger pour les voyageurs qui attendaient.

Ces personnes furent remplies de joie et stupéfiées par la générosité de Marina. Alors qu’elle passait de l’un à l’autre, elle essaya de faire connaissance et de découvrir l’histoire de leur vie. La Croix Rouge passait rapidement derrière elle pour nettoyer ses assiettes et faire tout ce qu’ils pouvaient pour l’aider !

Beaucoup de ces naufragés étaient musulmans bien qu’une ou deux des personnes rencontrées venaient de plus loin encore. Marina a parlé de Jésus, de celui qui motivait son acte de générosité. En réponse à cela, beaucoup de remarques intéressantes ont pu être partagées. Elle a rencontré deux iraniens, l’un d’eux recherchait le Seigneur depuis son enfance. Ils se demandaient quelle était la volonté de Dieu pour eux alors qu’ils se retrouvaient échoués dans cet aéroport. Après avoir discuté avec Marina et accepté une bible en anglais, elle a pu prier avec eux et ils ont échangé leurs adresses email.

Pour finir, elle emmena chez elle deux tunisiennes afin qu’elles puissent y attendre une connaissance qui les emmèneraient à Lille en France pour y continuer leur voyage. Après avoir discuté des heures ensemble, l’heure du départ est arrivée. Marina leur a offert deux bibles en français. Elles ont accepté ce présent en larmes. L’une a pu dire « Nous désirions tellement pouvoir lire la Bible ! ».

Le jour suivant, les avions ont pu décoller normalement à nouveau. Willem a pu rentrer chez lui et la vie a repris son cours normal. Dieu a permis cette situation incroyable pour atteindre des gens que peut être Marina n’aurait jamais pu rencontrer si cela n’était pas arrivé. Elle a simplement pris une petite initiative et a suivi sa curiosité !
